Lent was a bit of a blur this year, but good as always to buckle down and sacrifice. William did his sacrifice jar again and then on Passion Sunday we covered our large crucifix with purple cloth and then uncovered it on Good Friday as is done in the Church. I wanted the boys to understand that something somber was going on and it helps us all remember what is coming. On Good Friday, we made a tomb for Our Lord and I put together a Lenten altar. At 3pm, we closed the tomb to symbolize the death and burial of Our Lord.
William placed his sacrifice beads in the tomb and closed it to represent the ultimate sacrifice that Our Lord made for us
He wanted me to take a picture because he said he looked like Bumpa

Easter morning the boys found the altar transformed and the tomb open and empty of the sacrifice beads, and in its place were jelly beans to show the boys the fruits of their labor during Lent.
I had them put their empty Easter baskets out the night before and in the morning they were gone to represent how the holy women had gone to the tomb and found it empty. Then they went on a search and found them around the house full of goodies. Unfortunately, the boys were both sick and woke up in horrible moods so as soon as William saw that his basket was gone, he burst into tears. Poor guy sniffled the whole time he was looking for his basket. And then to top it off, mean ol' Mummy wouldn't allow them to have any candy before Mass. Obviously I am still learning and next year we'll do the basket hunt after Mass.
After a lovely (although warm) Easter High Mass, we stopped for a bite to eat at a favorite cafe of ours. The boys and I enjoyed banana chia muffins and smoothies! Zenith of course happily enjoyed his cappuccino

A couple Saturdays ago we stopped to pick up some burgers and then headed to the beach for a picnic and to let the boys play at the playground there

Speaking of Spring, blossoms and new life, last Friday I went for my first ultrasound and Zenith and I were able to see our baby for the first time! I am almost 18 weeks along and everything looks great. Keeps us in your prayers that all continues to go well! I had a good amount of morning sickness up to about week 13 and I've been extremely worn out to the point that I haven't been able to get out of the house on my own or do much around the house. But every moment of morning sickness, every headache, dizzy spell, etc. was a beautiful reminder of the blessing that I carried and as funny as it sounds, it was a comfort to feel so crummy. I am feeling better now that I am on a few supplements and iron for anemia and even was able to get out grocery shopping by myself on Friday for the first time since I got pregnant!

As I mentioned before, I've been very laid up the last few months and my kitchen floor has certainly paid the price for it! And this amazing man got down on his hands and knees for almost 2 hours and scrubbed it until it was sparkling. William thought he'd help add a little elbow grease. ;)
Last Sunday, my sister Chrissy had us over to celebrate Easter, which was fun! The boys had a good time playing with their cousins and the oldest, Olivia, set up an Easter egg hunt and games with prizes for the little kids. It was very creative!
Marcellus was really into it!
